AIR CONDITIONING AT TRADEMASTERS

EXPERT AIR CONDITIONING INSTALLATION IN EDMONTON

FAST, COOL RELIEF

There are many reasons to add air conditioning to your Edmonton home, work space, business or commercial property.  These reasons should be considered in light of your specific needs.  TradeMasters provides expert consultation.  We most commonly offer two types of air conditioning systems:

  • Central air. This system uses your building’s furnace system and ductwork to distribute cool air throughout your home.
  • Ductless-split (sometimes referred to as a mini-split). These systems are great for cooling condos, home office spaces and bedrooms.  Ductless-split systems are energy efficient and allow for a peaceful inside environment.  The condensing unit is installed outside or on the balcony.  We offer the large variety of Daikin and GE ductless-split products.

  • Proper sizing. Calculate the energy load for your home. This determines what size air conditioner is best for your home.  Most install issues stem from an improperly-sized air conditioning unit.  Either too big or too small of a unit can lead to costly repairs or replacement down the road.
  • Noise requirements. The condensing unit is outside your home.  Think about the location and who is impacted by the noise from the unit.  If noise is a consideration, either for yourself or your neighbor, discuss quieter options with your TradeMasters consultant.
  • Balancing and zoning. Some rooms may require more cooling/heating than others.  Having multiple thermostats can even the temperature or provide more cooling/heating in one room than the other.  This is not an option for every home, but we can advise.
  • ENERGY STAR® We proudly offer ENERGY STAR® rated Lennox and Goodman products, as well as others.  These systems provide energy savings.
  • Your budget must be kept in consideration.  We recommend the highest quality unit within your budget if you plan to remain in your home long-term.   A unit with quality components lasts longer and will cost you less in the long run.
  • Proper air conditioning installation is key.  Up to 80% of problems occurring in new Edmonton systems can be traced back to poor installation practices.  A proficient installer takes their time to properly set up the system.  Shortcuts equal costly repairs later.  Trust TradeMasters to install your system with skill and care.  We are factory and industry trained to install your equipment for optimum performance and lifespan.
  • Each unit comes with its own specified warranty.  Ask us about extended warranties.  We offer Certified Goodman Asure Care, Lennox and many other warranty choices.

5 REASONS YOUR AIR CONDITIONING MAY NOT BE COOLING

Isn’t it curious that otherwise reliable appliances and electronics only seem to malfunction when you need them most?

Actually, it’s not strange at all, considering the appliance is subjected to rigorous use when it’s needed most.  Your air conditioning is at greater risk of failure during those hot summer months when it has to work harder to keep your home cool.  And, with so many now working from home, air conditioners are working harder than ever!

If you experience or suspect any of the following issues, don’t put off calling TradeMasters for a repair assessment.

  1. A refrigerant leak. A problem to be handled by the professionals at TradeMasters.  Signs include:
    • Loud and unusual sounds, such as hissing and buzzing.
    • An icy buildup on the air conditioner, or if moisture and/or pools of water are accumulating near the furnace or air conditioning unit.
    • It is taking too long to cool the home.

If you suspect a refrigerant leak, turn off the air conditioner and contact us.

  1. A broken compressor or motor. This is a diagnosis that should be made by a TradeMasters heating and cooling expert.  They will be able to identify any part failures.
  2. The wrong size of air conditioner for the size of your home. An under-sized air conditioner has to work too hard to cool a too large space.  It will be prone to breakdown and will under-perform.  An over-sized air conditioner cools too quickly and it ends up turning on and off, what we call short cycling.  This can lead to inconsistent cooling and can cause damage to your equipment.  We will assess the size of the unit when diagnosing an improperly functioning unit.
  3. A dirty condenser. The condenser is inside the unit that sits outside of your home.  Over time, dirt, debris and grime build up.  If left unchecked, this situation will increasingly cost you more on energy bills and damage the equipment.  TradeMasters has solutions for thorough condenser cleaning.  It’s a good idea to use a cover during winter.  Another tip is to make sure you have approximately 18 inches of clearance on all sides.  This will prevent unsafe operating conditions and is required for optimal performance.
  4. A dirty or clogged furnace air filter. Check your furnace filter.  It filters the air passing through the indoor air conditioning coil.  When the filter begins to plug up with debris it restricts the airflow through your system.  This causes ice-ups and liquid slugging, which will cause the compressor to fail or be damaged.  We highly recommend replacing your furnace filter monthly during cooling season.

Annual maintenance is recommended for both your furnace and your air conditioner.
