EDMONTON SUMP PUMP INSTALLATION & REPAIR

Does the sound of a heavy rain make you sleepy? Or, are you instead running to check your basement for flooding?! This is when “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure”.

It doesn’t take much water in your basement to cause thousands of dollars of damage.  Avoid the hassle and the heartache.   Get expert advice from TradeMasters.

SUMP PUMPS & BACKWATER VALVES – COMPONENTS FOR FLOOD PREVENTION

Sump Pump Systems

We recommend sump pump installation to most homeowners in Edmonton and surrounding area.  A sump pump removes ground water under your basement to prevent flooding.  We excavate a hole with a gravel base in your basement.  Then our expert plumbers install your sump pump according to City of Edmonton, or your local municipality’s, specifications.  As the pit fills with water from a heavy rainfall or rising groundwater, the pump automatically turns on and moves the water out through a pipe that drains outside your home away from your foundation.  We recommend electrically-powered pumps with a battery-powered backup that will keep your pump going even if the power fails.

TradesMasters recommends the PHCC Pro Series sump pumps and accessories.

A sump pump controls the amount of water under your home, but we still recommend you take care of any clogged rain gutters or downspouts, improper grading around your home and the repair of any foundation issues.

Remember to check that your pump is operational every spring, and check it regularly during the summer and fall.  Indications that a sump pump needs attention include:

  • Running continuously
  • Starts and stops too often
  • Humming with little or no outflow
  • Ejects water but shuts off prematurely

Keep your home safe and dry.  If you currently don’t have a sump pump system call TradeMasters for a consultation.  When we provide you with options for a sump pump system, we can also check if you have a backwater valve.  If you need a sump pump installation or repair in Edmonton or area, call TradeMasters or schedule online.

A sump pump does not prevent sewer backups.  A backwater valve performs that function.  See below.

Backwater Valves

A backwater valve prevents flooding due to overloaded sewers.  If sewers in your area get clogged or overflow, a stopper in the valve will close and prevent the overflow from backing up into your home.  You may need two if you have a separate storm and sewage line.  Our expert plumbers strictly follow City of Edmonton code when installing your backwater valve.
